Home values are UP! What does Zillow say the value of your home is? Not house—home. For the follower of Christ, Zillow can’t answer the question. I tried searching “Eternity”, “heaven”, “my Father’s house”—no results found. We obviously can’t rely on that corner of the internet to give us spiritual answers. Not surprisingly, God gives us answers in what he “has prepared for those who love him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
Jesus spoke these words to us: Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. John 14:1-2
As homeowners, we put a great deal of value on our homes. We hope for a value that grows while the cost shrinks. Take a moment to dwell on the cost paid for your eternal home. Next, make an honest appraisal of its value to you. Do your daily choices reflect your answer?
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal… Matthew 6:20
When we no longer have an earthly home, we have a promise: we will be with Him forever! The grave is the beginning of our eternity with the God of hope (Romans 15:13)!
I go to prepare a place for you… that where I am, there you may be also. John 14:3
I pray that we all remember the promise of eternity that we can have through Christ and live today in anticipation!
