This past Wednesday night I had the honor to sit on a panel for our weekly youth worship service called Renew. While answering one of the questions that were asked (by some really bright students, might I add…) God laid this passage on my heart: Galatians 5:1. We had been talking about the battle between our flesh and the Spirit of Christ within us. We had discussed the struggle of dealing with temptation and the importance of the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in our lives. It was such a good reminder and refresher for me and I just wanted to stop in and remind you of what God reminded me of…
We have been set free.
We sing a song that I penned the words to around 3 or 4 years ago called “Free Indeed.” I wrote that song and still I need God to stop me in my tracks and remind me of that truth. We have been set free… to live free. “For freedom Christ has set us free; stand firm therefore, and do not submit again to a yoke of slavery.” (Gal. 5:1)
Brother or Sister, do you feel like you lose that battle with your flesh too often. Do you feel trapped in the same old patterns of sinfulness. Do you long to live the life that Christ has called you to? Let these words give you incredible and unshakable joy today. Sin and death… they no longer have any hold on you. You have been set free.
The grace of God has ransomed me
Undeserving, though I was
Love has laid His claim on me
That work can’t be undone
That work can’t be undone.
